Our Commitment to Accessibility

Lake County Care Collective is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to all people, regardless of ability or technology. We believe that every person deserves equal access to information about our services, providers, and locations — and we are actively working to meet and maintain the accessibility standards set forth in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

Accessibility is not a one-time project but an ongoing commitment. We regularly review our website and make improvements to ensure it remains usable by people who rely on assistive technologies such as screen readers, keyboard navigation, voice control software, and display magnification tools.

Accessibility Standards We Follow

Our website aims to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines are organized around four core principles — that web content must be Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust (commonly referred to as POUR). The following table summarizes the key practices we implement in each area.

PrincipleWhat We Do
PerceivableAll images include descriptive alt text. Color is never used as the sole means of conveying information. Text has sufficient contrast against background colors (minimum 4.5:1 ratio for normal text).
OperableAll interactive elements are reachable and usable via keyboard alone. Focus indicators are visible. No content flashes more than three times per second.
UnderstandablePage language is declared in HTML. Navigation is consistent across pages. Form inputs include clear labels and error messages. Plain language is used throughout.
RobustHTML is written to be compatible with current and future assistive technologies. ARIA landmarks and roles are used where appropriate to improve screen reader navigation.

Known Limitations

While we strive for full WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance, some areas of our website may not yet fully meet all criteria. We are aware of the following limitations and are actively working to address them:

  • Some third-party embedded content (such as maps and scheduling tools) may not fully conform to WCAG standards. We are working with our vendors to improve this.
  • Older PDF documents linked from the site may not be fully tagged for screen reader accessibility. We are in the process of reviewing and updating these files.
  • Certain decorative images may not yet have empty alt attributes applied consistently across all pages.

Our website has been designed and tested with the following assistive technologies in mind. We aim to ensure a functional and comfortable experience for users of these tools:
